Value City Plaza is a centrally located shopping plaza in downtown Cumberland, Maryland bounded to the northeast by Queen City Drive and the main CSX Transportation line. The plaza forms the northern most entrance into the Downtown Cumberland Historic District where a large discount department store is located. In addition, the plaza is occupied by fast food restaurants, and a large parking lot.[1]
Value City is the central bus stop for the Allegany County Transit System. Nearly, all Bus lines in the system start and stop at the Plaza.[2]
In the past, the plaza was formerly occupied by Gee Bee Department Stores, Super Fresh, J.G. McCrory's, and a community bookstore. Also, this plaza was known for flea markets that were held every Sunday. This flea market has since moved inside a building close to the first united bank in downtown.
