Valongo (pronunciation pron. IPA: [vɐ'lõngu]) is a Portuguese municipality located in the District of Porto, the city population is 16,698, and the municipality is composed of 5 parishes,of wich two are cities(Valongo and Ermesinde) and has a total population of 85,814 inhabitants.The most populous city (and parish) in the Valongo municipality is Ermesinde,with a population of 38,315, which is essentially a residential suburb of Oporto(Porto).Alfena is another important parish and has the most industry in the municipality.Alfena is also the most populous town(vila) in the Valongo municipality, with a population of about 20 000.
