V is Vanessa Hudgens's debut album, first released on September 26, 2006. Hudgens stated the title of the album stands for Vanessa, but also for variety, "because my album, in a way, is a mix" of pop, and ballads.[1] Hudgens promoted the album when opening for The Cheetah Girls during their The Party's Just Begun Tour, and then promoted on the High School Musical Tour. V debuted on the Billboard 200 in early October 2006 at number twenty-four on the chart, with 34,000 copies sold that week.[2] On February 27, 2007, V was certified Gold by the RIAA for shipments of 500,000 units.[3] As of April 30, 2008, V has sold over 570,000 copies in the U.S..[4]
