[edit] Route description
SR-17 begins at an intersection with SR-9 in central LaVerkin and heads north through Toquerville to Anderson Junction, where it ends at an interchange with I-15.[1]
[edit] History
The original SR-17 was commissioned in 1912, running along the current route of SR-9 from Hurricane to La Verkin. It was extended west to Harrisburg Junction along the current route of SR-9 in 1929.
In 1969, the original SR-17 was transferred to the former SR-15 (now SR-9), and SR-17 relocated to its current route.
Although the original SR-17 ended at the current southern terminus of SR-17, the two highways did not overlap at any time and were never simultaneously in existence.[2]
