[edit] Early life

Ussama Taha was born in Kuwait, the eldest son of two children to Faisal and Sherry. Ussama was drawn from an early age to sport; his mother gave him the nickname "Dolphin" due to his affinity for water.

With the onset of the Gulf War the Taha family was forced to temporarily relocate to the United States. It would be the first of several moves for the family. Shortly thereafter the Tahas spent four years in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada before moving back to the Middle East, specifically the United Arab Emirates. It was there that Ussama started to develop a passion for reading and writing, an interest that would lead to his eventual profession. After a couple more moves within the region, Ussama would go to the United States to pursue higher education.

[edit] The College Years

Having been uncomfortable during his three Canadian winters, Ussama decided to head somewhere with a climate more to his liking and decided upon the University of Texas at Austin. He initially had some trouble deciding what he wanted to major in and started off in the college of liberal arts. After one year of completing pre-requisites Ussama found his interests lead him towards communications and he then entered the school of journalism. Ussama had found his calling.

[edit] Current Job

Ussama is currently a television reporter for City 7 TV, a Dubai-based city channel found on Showtime and Nilesat satellites. His reports for City 7 News have covered everything from AIDS awareness campaigns and solar eclipses to construction safety standards and sports.
