I think this ship was broken at Alang, and may not have been legal. I'm not sure http://www.pulitzer.org/year/1998/investigative-reporting/works/day3/1.html Thelude 07:44, 7 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] named for?
Is this ship named for the Battle of Bennington or Bennington (town), Vermont ? Many Essex class carriers are named for Revolutionary War battles so I'd guess the former, but the article states its the later. Cornell Rockey 14:50, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
USS Bennington was named for the Battle of Bennington, not the town. You statement is correct. (USS Bennington crewmember) sealord01@hotmail.com 67.191.98.114 (talk) 13:43, 13 February 2008 (UTC)
