United Sri Lanka Association Inc.(USLA)

The United Sri Lanka Association Inc.(USLA), with branch in Auckland, is the premier organization of the Sri Lankan community in New Zealand. It was established in 1983. Its main objective is to promote Sri Lanka as a single sovereign state in which all people have equal rights and can live in peace and harmony. In time, the original aims were expanded to increase focus on the wellbeing of the community.


Current USLA objectives are:

To promote goodwill and unity among all Sri Lankans. To uphold unequivocally and promote Sri Lanka as a single sovereign state in which all people have equal rights and can live in peace and harmony. To promote the interests and welfare of its members. To help members in their orientation to New Zealand way of life. To promote social, cultural and sporting activities among its members.


USLA undertakes a range of activities throughout the year in pursuit of these objectives. Its flagship event is the Annual Cultural Show and Dinner at which over 300 people participate. Several government Ministers and the Governor General have participated in this event.
