My real name is Marc Alexander, and if it weren't for my habit of keeping a similar username on many websites I would have used my real name from the start on Wikipedia.

As a trainee academic, my areas of expertise are generally confined to certain specialist areas (stylistics, cognitive linguistics, systemic-functional approaches to discourse, narratology and conceptual blending are the main ones), although I do contribute in a number of other areas when I think I can add something of value. My pop-culture areas of interest are varied and, in many cases, slightly embarrassing (under another username I contributed to Wittgenstein, Agatha Christie, Yes Minister, pre-Renaissance music, Lego in the late 80s and the West Wing).
