[edit] Usage

Create a page here[1]. Its entire contents (except for text between <noinclude> tags) should be one of the following:

online
you are online and presumably editing.
offline
you are not online for whatever reason.
lurking
you are online but do not plan on editing very frequently or at all.

Its contents must not have any formatting (no bold) and must be all lowercase:

  • online works (just don't include <code> tags)
  • '''online''' does not work
  • Online does not work

Then, place this template on your userpage. Treat it like a userbox. Place it on your talk page and treat it like a banner. It can be placed one subpage deep (i.e. you can have one at User:Example/sub page but not User:Example/sub page/other[2]).

[edit] Notes

  1. ^ Or, if you don't want others to be able to edit your status, you could make one here and redirect the official page to it
  2. ^ Well, technically you can place it multiple subpages deep. To do so, type [[User:{{BASEPAGENAME}}/status]] into the page you want to put the template in, hit Preview (not Save page), click the link, and redirect that page to the page you created in the instructions (the page Special:Mypage/status "redirects" to)
