Why is this image used to indicate femininity? Brutannica 07:11, 1 September 2007 (UTC)

I asked on flickr.com a few months ago. One member noted that it vaguely resembles the flower of the Erodium cicutarium. I did a google search on that, but found nothing. I think User:Wave of Mutilation, who originally uploaded and used this image for her female3 userbox, just wanted something pink. The color is strongly associated with femininity after all. - Face 15:37, 27 April 2008 (UTC)
