[edit] Description

  • Shield: Argent, an American eagle displayed, holding in the dexter talon an olive branch, in the sinister a bundle of thirteen arrows, on its breast the escutcheon of the United States all Proper; on a chief Azure three five-pointed stars of the first (Argent).
  • Crest: On a wreath of the colors (Argent and Azure) a dexter mailed hand Sable, holding a torch inflamed Proper.
  • Motto: PRUDENS FUTURI (Provident for the Future).

[edit] Symbolism

  • Shield: The American eagle in natural colors (Proper) bearing the emblems of the National coat of arms, on the silver (Argent) shield, is significant of the national character of the War College. The escutcheon on the eagle's breast in its proper colors serves to balance the design and complete the trio of national colors by the addition of red. The three stars are symbols of the three combatant arms of the service.
  • Crest: The crest, the torch of enlightenment in the grasp of the mailed fist, needs no special explanation.
  • Motto: The motto is translated "Provident for the Future."
