Obverse and reverse of the $5 1861 Demand Note
The front of five dollar Demand Notes feature a small portrait of Alexander Hamilton at the lower right of the note. On the left is the "Statue of Freedom" that sits atop the U.S. Capitol Building in Washington D.C.. The base of the statue reads E PLURIBUS UNUM, but only "RIBUS UNUM" is visible on the note.
The reverse of the $5 note contains a small numeral 5 inside of a small oval that is repeated numerous times; this design element surrounded the main design elements of the reverse of the note.
