Urbe Bikini

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Urbe Bikini is a Venezuelan, Maxim-styled monthly with original photographs of famous models and editorial content geared to men 25 to 40. From its launch in December 2003, Bikini or UB has been the largest circulation glossy in the country. The magazine was published by the same company that in 1995 had launched Venezuela's first alternative weekly, Urbe, in itself a cultural and circulation phenomenon for more than 10 years.

Urbe Bikini was created by Urbe's editor-in-chief & creative director, Gabriel Torrelles and publisher, Carlos Lizarralde, who sold the company to the country's largest publisher, Cadena Capriles. Gabriel Torrelles, the genius behind UB, continued to lead the effort after the company's buy out and until October 2006. The creative visual input of advertising and fashion photographer Jorge Parra, who produced and shot all editorial content for the first 5 editions of Urbe Bikini, opened the gates to a new breed of young photographers in Venezuela.
