Unterseeboot 34 (also known as U-34) was a German Type VIIA U-boat of the Nazi Kriegsmarine laid down on September 15, 1935 by Germaniawerft at Kiel and commissioned on September 12, 1936.

In 7 patrols U-34 sank 19 ships including 3 warships for a total of 91,989 tons.

U-34 took a supervisory part in the German Operation Ursula during the Spanish Civil War. Under the command of Kptlt. Harald Grosse, she sank the Spanish submarine C-3 on December 12, 1936.
On October 20, 1939 she sank the Swedish steamship SS Gustaf Adolf and the British steamship SS Sea Venture near the Shetland Islands.
On April 13, 1940, she torpedoed and destroyed the wreck of the scuttled Norwegian minelayer HNoMS Frøya
On July 5, 1940 she sank the British destroyer HMS Whirlwind.
On August 1, 1940 she sank the British submarine HMS Spearfish.

She sank at 21:55 on August 5, 1943 at Memel in position 55°42′N, 21°09′E after a collision with the U-boat tender Lech. Four men died but 39 survived. The boat was raised again on August 24 and stricken on September 8, 1943.
