Unterseeboot 300

Unterseeboot 300 or U-300 was a German World War II Type VIIC/41 submarine commissioned on 29 December 1943. U-300 served with 8. Unterseebootflottille (U-Boat Flotilla) for training, 7. Unterseebootflottille from 1 August 1944 to 30 September 1944 and finally 11. Unterseebootsflottille from 1 October 1944 to 22 February 1945. U-300 completed three patrols sinking two ships totalling 7,559 gross register tons (GRT), damaged one ship beyond repair totalling 9,551 GRT, and damaged a second ship totalling 7,176 GRT.

U-300 was sunk on 22 February 1945 west of Cadiz by depth charges from minesweeper HMS Recruit and HMS Pincher and the armed yacht/minesweeper USS Evadne. 11 of U-300’s crew were killed and 42 survived the attack.
