Unsub was a 1989 television series starring David Soul as a forensic investigator. The show is considered a spiritual ancestor of series like CSI, Without A Trace, The Inside and Criminal Minds (which makes frequent use of the word "unsub").[citation needed] This concept was first used in the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation series Wojeck which first aired in 1966. It was expanded in the series Quincy M.E. launched in 1974.[citation needed]
Unsub is an abbreviation for the unknown subject of an investigation.
