[edit] Gomel

Will you please cease the edit warring and take your opinion to the talk page first? My IPA is obviously cited, however I cannot trust your juedgement simply because you don't seem very familiar with the English language. "Errorness" is not a word. Reginmund 14:51, 6 November 2007 (UTC)

If you are not familiar already, the name of the article is "Gomel", a toponym which has alternatives such as "Homel". Hence why the pronunciation of the main entry is ɡɔmʌl. Due to your source, it has become obvious to me that your motive is not to remove the cited pronunciation for error, but you are trying to prove a point because you oppose the current spelling that the page is at. Keep up the edit warring and I will have to report you. Reginmund 01:44, 7 November 2007 (UTC)
I wish you to revise your statement because it is totally wrong. The citation I gave has a sound reconrding which corresponds to the IPA I gave. The pronunciation guide on the page, however, is not in IPA. Reginmund 15:26, 7 November 2007 (UTC)
How do you think that humans determine how to pronounce something on the IPA chart? Do you think that the word on the IPA is conceived before it is actually spoken? It doesn't matter what you have heard. That is originaal research. I have a cited source that has a voice clip that corresponds to the IPA I have given and basing the IPA off of a sound (as long as it is cited) is percfectly acceptable. Reginmund 01:24, 8 November 2007 (UTC)
Unomano, get this: "it doesn't matter what you have heard". It doesn't matter that you have heard British, Americans, Australians, Canadians, all saying "Gomel" firsthand (while they were visiting as Chernobyl missionaries and humanitarian aid group workers), it doesn't matter that you can say "Gomel" in your native tongue, it just doesn't matter... Maksdo 11:21, 9 November 2007 (UTC)
That is the point. It is original research. If you would read the page, you might find some answers to your questions. Nor does it matter because you can say Gomel in your native tongue. The pronunciation may and most probably will be different in English. Reginmund 15:25, 9 November 2007 (UTC)
