University of Western Macedonia

In 2002 the Ministerial Council under the Prime Minister of Greece, decided the foundation of the University of Western Macedonia. On 28 July 2003 a group of ministers leaded by the Minister of Education and Religious Affairs Petros Eythymiou settles the Administrative Committee in Kozani.
After the 1 January 2004, four departments that previously belonged to the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, reinforced the potential of the University of Western Macedonia.

- Department of Elementary Education (Florina)
- Department of Preschool Education (Florina)
Faculty of Engineering:
- Department of Engineering and Management of Energy Resources (Kozani)
- Department of Engineering Computer Science and Telecommunications (Kozani)
Independent Departments:
- Department of Balkan Studies (Florina)
- Department of Figurative and Applied Arts (Florina)
