[edit] History
The tradition of preparing future teachers in Hradec Kralove is going back to 1775. In 1959 Pedagogical Institute was set up to prepare teachers for the grammar schools. In August 1964, independent Faculty of Education was setup through merging Pedagogical Institute of Hradec Kralove and Pedagogical Institute of Pardubice. After 1976 the programme was extended to produce teachers for all levels of education in Czechoslovakia. In 1993 Faculty of automation and information technologies was established (renamed in 2000 to Faculty of Informatics and Management). In 2000 name of the whole institution was changed. In 2005 Faculty of social studies was established. In 2007, the Faculty of Informatics and Management was accredited to grant professor titles, for the field of systems engineering and informatics.
