University of Glasgow Medico-Chirurgical Society

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The University of Glasgow Medico-Chirurgical Society is the social society for students at the University of Glasgow's Medical School. Med-Chir was founded in 1802, and is one of the university's oldest societies. It has endeavoured to provide the medical students of the university an outlet for both academic and social discussion. In recent years the society concentrated on academic excursions to other university towns for sporting competitions and the thespians in the faculty are encouraged through the world famous revue held annually. Many illustrious former members maintain a link with the society and the Med-Chir tie has been spotted on more than a few occasions. Notably when Sam Galbraith presented the Scottish Cup. The current Med-Chir President (2006-2007) is Douglas Mackenzie.
