The University of Burgos (in Spanish: Universidad de Burgos) is a public university in the Spanish city of Burgos.

[edit] History

The University of Burgos was founded in 1994 when it separated from the University of Valladolid, which it had belonged to since 1974.

[edit] Current

The University of Burgos currently has about 11,000 students on two campuses. It offers classes in four facultades, or faculties: Faculty of Sciences, Faculty of Business and Economics, Faculty of Law, and Faculty of Humanities and Education. It also includes the Higher Polytechnic School, School of Nursing, School of Labor Relations, and School of Tourism.

The Library has important old manuscrypts.

Most of the facultades are held in the campus of San Amaro. Some classes take place in the "Hospital del Rey", a former hospital for pilgrims on the Way of St. James (in Spanish: el camino de Santiago), founded in 1195 by Alfonso VIII.
