The University of Birmingham Debating Society is one of the oldest student societies at the University of Birmingham.[citation needed] The current Chairman is Sammy Neville.
The society holds public debates on alternating Thursday nights, with public figures being asked to speak.
The Society holds debating workshops, open for anyone to attend, on Wednsdays at 2pm, in Lecture Theatre 2, Law Building
