The Universidad Michoaca de San Nicolas de Hidalgo is currently the institution of higher education with the most tradition in the state of Michoacan.

The University is divided several academic facultades. Prospective students must possess a high school diploma, preferably from a college preparatory high school, and pass a university entrance exam to be admitted into the academic division of their choice.
