Template talk:United States buildings

[edit] Caption location
Is it possible to move the caption to the right? The only article that transcludes this template is List of tallest buildings in the United States. By looking at this template on that page, one can see that the caption appears to be a part of the text. By moving it to the right, we might be able to get rid of this small problem. - I am leaving another message here to let people know that I still want to move the caption to the right. Leitmanp (talk | contributions) 00:10, 22 May 2008 (UTC)

- Thank you. I was also wondering why only Chicago and New York have headers above their buildings. I think the name of each city that has buildings listed should be included to provide more information for viewers/readers. Also, is there any way we can add a border around the template so it looks like a thumbnail and not just a map sitting within the article? Maybe I am just too used to having a border around the visual in the lead, but I think it would make it look better. Leitmanp (talk | contributions) 03:56, 22 May 2008 (UTC)

- Chicago and New York City are listed because both cities have so many buildings that the building names extend well into Wisconsin/Minnesota for Chicago and Northern New York/New England for New York City, so the placements on the map in these instances are not accurate. All of the other cities don't have this problem. Of course, the city names would be very easy to add; the only problem may be Philadelphia, as the city name would "collide" with New York's 40 Wall Street. As for the border, I don't think that is necessary: I don't know how to add one, but it seems that the vast majority of imagemaps don't have borders anyway. Cheers, Rai•me 21:36, 22 May 2008 (UTC)

- I have just added the rest of the city names. I had to move things a little, but I think everything fits well. Feel free to make any adjustments to my own edits. The only problem I see is the borders of the states are mixed with the names of the buildings, especially for New York and Philadelphia. This makes it hard to see. Is there something we can do?
