The Noise was one of the first series of albums in reggaeton that started somewhere around 1991-1992 in Puerto Rico with one of the pioneers of reggaeton from Puerto Rico, DJ Negro. This album featured some famous reggaeton artists of today such as Baby Rasta & Gringo, Polaco, Guanabanas, Maicol & Manuel, Don Chezina.
The album was created at a time when artists in Puerto Rico were still finding the sound that we now know as reggaeton. Besides having a musical blend of hip-hop and reggae The Noise experimented with blending the cultural landscapes of New York City and Puerto Rico. This can be seen particularly in their music videos where the performers' winter coats, snowball fights and turnstile jumping contrast greatly with images of tropical San Juan.
