Contents

[edit] History

Uncaged Campaigns was establish in 1993 by Angela Roberts and Lynne Williamson in Sheffield, UK with the aim of highlighting and stopping animal vivisection (testing on animals).

[edit] Activism

Uncaged's areas of activity are:

  • Opposition to the abuse of animals
  • A scientific critique of vivisection
  • A commitment to democracy, human and nonhuman rights, and environmental sustainability.[2]

[edit] Notability

Uncaged Campaigns are noted for their campaign in the UK against vivisection and in particularly Proctor and Gamble. This has taken the form of high-profile media campaigns resulting in TV and newspaper (the UK's Daily Express) coverage. Uncaged has always maintained a peaceful protest philosophy, unlike some other anti-vivisection campaign groups.[3] Uncaged has also garnered support from British politician Norman Baker MP, Liberal Democrat spokesperson on animal welfare, who states "Uncaged keeps alive the flame of hope that one day, animal experiments will seem as outdated as today sending children up chimneys seems.".[4]

[edit] Campaigns

Boycott Proctor & Gamble
Diaries of Despair
Xenotransplantation.[5]

[edit] Other Activities

Uncaged are also involved in other activities, including merchandising, as a means of fundraising and marketing, as well as advocacy of a vegan diet and lifestyle with supportive information and recipes.
