[edit] Reasons for failure
The reasons why an UNCOL has never been successfully defined are deeper than the "not enough memory" reason given in the article. UNCOL is just as big a problem today as it was in the 1960s despite our plentiful, cheap memory. Comp.compilers has some interesting discussion on the usual progress of an UNCOL project from initial partial success and resulting optimism to a realisation of the real size and nature of the problem to eventual disillusion and abandonment of the project. -- Derek Ross | Talk 19:08, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
