Low resolution?

Yes

Purpose of use

Its use here is intended solely as as a means of illustrating James Baskett's portrayal of the folk-tale character Uncle Remus (to accompany critical commentary on Disney's interpretation of that character) and to provide a means of comparison to the earlier illustrations by Frederick S. Church, A. B. Frost, and E. W. Kemble. Its use here causes no financial harm to Disney.

Replaceable?

No; it is extremely unlikely that Disney will release this image under a free license.

Other information Baskett's portrayal of the character as portrayed in Song of the South and related media is owned by Disney (unlike the character name) and differs sigficantly in appearance from the public domain illustrations in editions of the original Joel Chandler Harris work released prior to the film's debut.
