Ultimate Transformers is the name given by Transformers fans to the Transformers universe created by IDW Publishing, consisting of various mini-series and single issue comics beginning with The Transformers: Infiltration #0 in October 2005. The order of the comics can be identified by a number in an outlined Autobot symbol near the barcode. The name of the universe is derived from the Marvel 'Ultimates' series^{[citation needed]} whereby a a comic series is rebooted with a simplified and modernized origin and characters, allowing new readers who have an interested in a series but find it hard to make sense of convoluted and contradicting backstories to begin reading a series without any knowledge of previous stories in that series.
