The Smooth-leaved Elm Ulmus minor var. minor cultivar 'Umbraculifera Gracilis' was obtained as a sport of 'Umbraculifera' by Späth[2], and is distinguished by its long, oval crown [1] [2]. A specimen at the Ryston Hall [3], Norfolk, arboretum, obtained from the Späth nursery in Berlin before 1914 [3], was killed by the earlier strain of Dutch elm disease in the 1930s.
