[edit] Slow media adaptation of "UCF"

I understand why its frustrating when a school asks to be called one thing but the media doesn't automatically comply --particularly in broadcasts where an editor can catch it. The problem is more with teams that have always been known by the acronyms (like UCLA/UNLV that were cited) vs. those that might make a point in more recent times: Washington State tried to have the press stop calling them "Wazzu", but there was too much resistance from all sides (including fans) so they dropped it. Currently, USC/Southern California is hell bent on stopping people from using "Southern Cal", despite its common (and encouraged use) throughout its history into the '90s. --Bobak 18:35, 1 August 2007 (UTC)

I've noticed on Wikipedia there is a bit of inconsistancy as a result of this... its calling UCF in a lot of places and Central Florida in others. For consistancy's sake, I think it should be standardized, and I'd vote on UCF as that is what it officially is.--Aent 22:16, 1 August 2007 (UTC)
