Personally, I think it's a good idea to read this too: Myers-Briggs Type Indicator#Skeptical view: This is pure pseudo-science, it's all based on astrology.
It has also been argued that the terminology of the MBTI is so vague and complicated that it allows any kind of behavior to fit any personality type, resulting in the Forer effect, where an individual gives a high rating to a positive description that supposedly applies specifically to himself.
Carroll also notes that the theory of psychological types created by Carl Jung was not based on any controlled studies—the only scientific study Jung performed was in the field of astrology.

Ah! Thanks for letting us know your real concern. I thought you were making a joke or slur. As you likely know, "X" means neutral on some axis, in this case the P-J axis. If all the neutrals were included there would be 81 boxes not 16, but I wouldn't object to seeing them added one at a time as needed. — Tamfang 05:09, 19 January 2006 (UTC)
