U Soe (1906 - 6 May 1989; also known as Thakin Soe) was a member of the Communist Party of Burma and was a founder of the party. Soe was imprisoned in 1970 and pardoned by Ne Win in 1974. In 1988, Soe advocated the Unity and Peace Party in the following 1989 elections.
