The U.S. Smokeless Tobacco Company (formerly United States Tobacco Company) manufactures dipping tobacco. It is a subsidiary of UST Inc.
Its corporate headquarters are located in Stamford, Connecticut, and it maintains factories in Clarksville and Nashville, Tennessee, Franklin Park, Illinois, and Hopkinsville, Kentucky.
Copenhagen and Skoal are the company's leading brands, and each represent more than USD$1 billion per year in retail sales. It also sells similar products for people on budgets under the names Rooster, Red Seal, and Husky brands.
Skoal offers various flavors. But NO MENTION of the ADDICTIVE nature of tobacco in this form. All of them have potential to cause oral cancers of various sorts according to the national cancer institute. This fact is conveniently overlooked by the Smokelss adverstising leaflets and other materials.http://www.cancer.gov/cancertopics/factsheet/Tobacco/smokeless To SEE the effects of smokeless go to www.tobaccofreedom.org/.../cancer/index.html.
Skoal is one of the first moist tobacco manufactures to market Snus in the US, as "Skoal Bandits".[citation needed] This product has a small amount of tobacco put in pouches made of a thin material, resembling a tiny tea bag.
In recent months USST has been forced to make some adjustments to its productline as Philip Morris announced this year it would introduce its own smokeless tobacco product. USST countered by rolling out 2 new brands of their own.
