Born in Detroit, Michigan, Tyrone "Ty" Jones is an African-American, motion picture screenwriter and producer in the genres of action, drama and comedy.

He began his writing career in the mid-1980's, as an Advertising Copywriter with the, J. Walter Thompson Advertising Company in Detroit, Michigan. Writing copy for such national accounts as, Ford Motor Company, Kraft Foods and Champion Automotive Group. From 1989-90, Jones worked as an associate writer for the hit NBC television drama, "LA Law."

Since then, Jones has collaborated with longtime friend and business partner -- music and international concert promoter, Bruce E. Hervey (d. June 16, 2006), under the banner of Vision Entertainment Group, to write, develop and produce several screenplays for theatrical release and cable television broadcast. After the untimely death of Mr. Hervey, Jones and his new company, Sunlight Films have recently signed a financing deal with SDE Media Group, L.L.C. of Las Vegas, Nevada to develop a number of Jones' current screenplays for film and television production. Mr. Jones has recently garnered much international acclaim for his production of "For Honor of Country." A film which depicts the plight of Japanese-American's internment in segregation camps at the outset of World War II and the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor.

Jones also lectures and works extensively with the Ministério da Cultura in Rio De Janeiro and São Paulo, Brazil, in an effort to develop Brazilian screenwriters and filmmakers and to promote the Brazilian film industry worldwide.

Jones holds a B.A. in Journalism/History and M.F.A. in Film & Television. He currently maintains residences in Los Angeles, California, Spanish Springs, Nevada and Rio De Janeiro, Brazil.
