Talk:Typo fairy

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Probably should be merged with typo demon... we'd need an article title, though - that's a bit of a problem. Typographic antropomorph?

I think Typographic entity would probably be a better fit.--Mitsukai 18:40, 28 July 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Not an in-joke?

This does not seem to be a in-joke. An in-joke(according to In-joke) is: "a joke whose humour is clear only to those people who are in a group that has some prior knowledge (not known by the whole population) that makes the joke humorous." Typo fairy, while a fictional creation of a subculture, does not seem to be a joke, exactly. Also, while its use is restricted to a distinct group, being in the group does not provide any greater understanding of the phrase; rather, unless you are a member of the group, you are not likely to either hear or use it. This is not an in-joke. I've modified the text to remove references to its in-joke-ness. Feel free to explain why you think I'm wrong and then revert. JesseW 10:13, 31 Oct 2004 (UTC)

I agree. Your revision does make it a self-referential joke, though: "Typo fairies is a common explantion of typos used by computer users." :-) Corrected. JRM 10:29, 2004 Oct 31 (UTC)
{Clap} {Clap} {CLAP}! I did not see that. It must have been a typo fairy that made me do it. ;-) JesseW 19:48, 31 Oct 2004 (UTC)
