Description

The Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) onboard NASA’s Terra satellite captured this true-color image of Typhoon Namtheun (13W) swirling in the Pacific waters approximately 656 miles (1056 km) southeast of Tokyo, Japan. At the time this image was taken, Namtheun has maximum sustained winds of 132 mph with higher gusts to 161 mph. While currently moving towards the northwest, Namtheun is expected to take on a more westward track over the next 72 hours.
