Jonathon Tyler "Ty" Kyte (born July 24, 1984 in Lindsay, Ontario) is a Canadian actor/singer. He began his acting career as a correspondent on the Canadian TV series Popular Mechanics for Kids alongside fellow Canadians Elisha Cuthbert and Vanessa Lengies. He later appeared on the TV series Goosebumps (1997) and Are You Afraid of the Dark? (1999). He appeared in the made for TV movie Prom Queen: The Marc Hall Story in 2004, and now has a recurring role on the Canadian drama Instant Star as Vincent Spiederman. In his free time, Tyler records songs and plays drums for the Toronto band Sweet Thing, and in 2006, released a five-song solo CD. He currently resides in Toronto, Ontario. Not only does Kyte have his own music career and role as a drummer in the infectious Sweet Thing but he also plays guitar, organ, and piano as well as providing backing vocals for friend Nick Rose's band, Nick Rose & the Magnolias, who will release their debut EP on February 20th, 2008; and takes part in the country/folk group Blue Fox. In addition to Tyler's acting and musical abilities, he is also known for his work with special needs children and adults. Tyler has spent his entire life living with those who are mentally and physically challenged. Tyler's brother Paul who has Down Syndrome. Kyte says "I have grown up with many people who have disabilities. It is very important to me to keep in touch with my roots. Not only is it rewarding but it also helps me keep a little perspective." Tyler got into music at the age of 12 when he started playing guitar. His father is a musician [2]. He lists his musical influences as Bruce Springsteen, Ryan Adams, Aerosmith, and Blue Rodeo. Kyte has released an EP, titled the Let's Talk EP. The EP has 5 original songs, written and performed by Tyler Kyte. Kyte plays a rockstar on the show Instant Star where he is the backup band for Jude Harrison (Alexz Johnson). In the show, he performs his song "What You Need". The song is on the Songs From Instant Star Three soundtrack, along with two songs that were performed by Johnson on the show. Due to Johnson's management at the time, they were not put on the soundtrack. Instead, Kyte recorded the two songs and they were put on the soundtrack. The two songs are "Unraveling" and "Worth Waiting For".
Tyler Kyte has a myspace under the name of Painter, which features demos of him and friends in the studio, or at home in front of a microphone. Some of the demos are Soft Spoken (ft. Alexz Johnson), Skips (ft. Alexz Johnson), Hurt, Barcelona, Dill Lake Road, I Call My Cookie Becky, My Dear, Nick's In The Garden, Seeking Love, Kings and Queen, and Practical Vain Man.
Tyler is currently working on his first full length CD (March 2008). No release date, or album title is known at this time. On February 25th, Tyler Kyte Net was given word that Kyte's album is in the final stage of being mixed, but says it will be a few months before the album is released [3]. This album has been long awaited by fans of Kyte.

[edit] Young Roles
Tyler Kyte played many roles during his younger years. Roles include Goosebumps, Popular Mechanics for Kids, Due South, The Defenders: Payback, Are You Afraid of the Dark, Interstate 60, and more. Kyte's first role was in Goosebumps' "Don't Go To Sleep" as Matt Amsterdam. He plays a kid who is tired of being a kid, so he sleeps in the attic one night, but wakes up in a completely different dimension... Everyone's treating him like an adult! Sounds great doesn't it? Until two men in black are pursuing him. In 1998 Kyte landed a role in the popular children's show replacing Jay Baruchel. He did a lot throughout the show's history. Kyte's career was just beginning. The show ended, but is still shown on networks such as Discovery Kids Canada and BBC Kids. His costars included Elisha Cuthbert and Vanessa Lengies. His role in PMK landed him a nomination in 2001 at the Geminis, "Best Performance in a Children's or Youth Program or Series".

In 2003 Tyler played Charles Smart in the movie The Elizabeth Smart Story. The movie is based on the true story of Elizabeth Smart's kidnapping. Later in 2004, Kyte took a role in a popular gay themed movie, Prom Queen: The Marc Hall Story. He played a minor part, but it was an affective part. Kyte roled as Murray, the friend of a gay teenager wanting to go to prom with his boyfriend. In 2006 Kyte played as Charlie Walker, in the short film By Charlie Walker. The film portrayed the events of a boy becoming a man over the coarse of one day, after he discovers his mother having sexual intercourse with a man he never met before.
