Tyler Currie (born in Calgary, Alberta, Canada) ran for a Provincial parliament seat during the 2007 Ontario election in the downtown Toronto riding of Trinity-Spadina for the Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario. According to the Ontario PC website, Currie spent most of his younger years in Waterloo, Ontario before moving to Toronto in 1998.

Currie was the Manager of Communications for the National Hockey League Players' Association (NHLPA), where he did public relations for NHL players. In that role, he handled a number of contentious, high-profile issues, including the 2004–05 NHL lockout.

He is now the Director of International Affairs for the NHLPA, responsible for growing revenues outside of North American and for all international competition played in by NHL players.

Currie launched his campaign on June 13, 2007 at Grace O'Malley's Pub in Toronto, Ontario. More than 200 people attended, including a number of sports media, CITY-TV's Mark Daley, and several NHL players/former players: Mike Gartner (former Toronto Maple Leaf, member of the Hockey Hall of Fame), Vincent Damphousse (former Toronto Maple Leaf), Matthew Stajan (Toronto Maple Leafs), Brendan Bell (Phoenix Coyotes), Wojtek Wolski (Colorado Avalanche) and Matt Foy (Minnesota Wild).

His father, Bruce McKenty, served two terms as a city councillor. Currie pursued a degree at the University of Toronto, with a concentration in Political Science and Canadian Studies. Currie furthered his political involvement by volunteering on campaigns, and was twice elected as a director of the University of Toronto Students' Union. Today, he serves as a Vice President of the Trinity-Spadina Progressive Conservative Riding Association.
