[edit] Plastic Radio

Hi Turbo. Welcome to Wikipedia. I see that your only two logged in edits so far have been to add an external link to the Adelaide article that other people remove due to their perceiving it as spam. Perhaps you'll get on better adding the link to List of Internet stations instead. Could I suggest that if you want to add the link to the Adelaide article again, you describe on the talk page what makes Plastic Radio notable to Adelaide? At the moment, we see it as being neither notable (none of the Adelaide-based editors have heard of it) or specific to Adelaide (internet radio is available anywhere).

The perception that you are adding spam also comes from the fact that you haven't contributed to any other articles. Particularly with the article quoted at the Australian notice board from Sydney Morning Herald about viral marketing, we're a bit sensitive to editors that don't contribute to other parts of the project. You might like to read the vanity guidelines that talk about no advertising. I tend to edit a lot of articles about places, and sometimes external links I've added have been removed, too. Usually not if they contain expanded info on the interesting features of the town, but removed if they're mainly a list of motels and businesses.

Anyway, welcome. I'd like to encourage you to join in and help with the Australian Collaboration of the Fortnight, articles from WikiProject Adelaide, or any other topic you know about. I hope your first experiences with wikipedia have not put you off. --Scott Davis Talk 09:45, 31 August 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Policies

Turbo, you are welcome to contribute to Wikipedia only so long as you respect our Policies and Guidelines. You have broken perhaps one of our most essential policies, the Three Revert Rule - a rule designed to provide stability and discourage the edit warring you have engaged in. Because we like to give new users the benefit of the doubt, I am going to assume you were not familiar with that particular policy. However, understand ignorance is not an excuse. You are aware that others disapproved of the link you sought to publish and you were repeatedly encouraged to discuss your reasoning on the talk page. Do not try to include include the link again until you have gained support to do so from other editors on the talk page. Thanks, --Cyberjunkie | Talk 23:32, 11 September 2005 (UTC)
