[edit] Note

--It is funny how someone called me after reading this article and asked about Turkish Airlines. He never before heard about it and was worried after reading the hijack news. Anyway, for those of you who may have a similar concern: it is an isolated incident which can happen to any flight. As a matter of fact, having flied with almost all US companies, Air France, KLM and Turkish Airlines many many times, my favorite used to be Turkish Airlines. They were one of the top companies in terms of in-flight service before 2003. The changes in top management had negative effects after 2003, nowadays (2006) it is roughly comparable to Delta domestic flights in terms of quality.

--Why does this article make Turkish Airlines sound like a company with nothing but a history of disasters? I believe that Turkish Airlines has much more to offer than just hijackings and crashes. Can someone elaborate more on its history and achievements, rather than just focus on the negative aspects?

So much for 'neutral point of view'. Heh.

--I agree with the opinion above. Turkish Airlines is one of the fastest growing airlines in the world and also is one of the most reliable ones. For more information about the flight network and fleet, take a visit to company's webpage www.thy.com Regards. [MTABALU]

I'm sorry, but these are just verifyable facts. If you know more about this airline's history and achievements please feel free to add to the article (preferably with references). Tinus 21:28, 16 September 2006 (UTC)

--How long should I keep up the recent news section containing the little bit of info about the October 3rd hijacking? - The yip

I contacted turkish airlines and they confirmed they are in talks with star alliance which is expected to take 1-1.5 years. Please add this to the turkish airlines date as january 1st 2008 as the most realistic joining date.

thanks

matt

Do you know what date your intended date of joining would be? What month in

2007 or 2008?

Thanks

Matt

[edit] Callsign

The callsign for Turkish Airlines is Turkish. It is NOT Turkair. I have confirmed this with a number of Turkish ATC's and pilots. Please stop reverting the article.

No, the callsign used by many controllers is Turkish because thats what they're used to (old callsign is Turkish). Official callsign is "Turkair" but mostly no-one uses Turkair in Turkey or sometimes Germany. Tekin 09:50, 13 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:TurkishAirlineslogo.PNG

Image:TurkishAirlineslogo.PNG is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 05:05, 5 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Inflight magazine

I haven't worked at all on airline articles, so I don't know if there is a standard way to handle this, but presumably somewhere the article should mention their inflight magazine Skylife - Şubat, which is a rather good one. Issues since 2000 are available online. - Jmabel | Talk 07:25, 22 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] The film snatch

In the film Snatch was the aircraft, who's crashed not a plane from Turkish Airlines. This aircraft was a little aircraft, who's name Turkish. Comparable with a B747 from Lufthansa called Baden Würtemberg. I will delete it... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.76.143.71 (talk) 17:21, 9 January 2008 (UTC)
