Is Tuanku a royal title? In any case, I am sorting this fellow by the name of the state he helped found.

ISLAMIC HERO INSTEAD OF NASIONAL HERO.
After reading the article, I conclude that Tuanku Imambonjol is more an Islamic hero as opposed to Indonesian national Hero. In the beginning of his involvment in the Padri's movement he was more concerned about Islamic teachings than the sesnse of nationalism. He attacked his fellow countrymen, the Minang Adat community.
Under the attack of the Imanbonjol force, it is only logical and reasonable for the Minang Adat Community to seek for helps. In this situation, the Ducth was more than thankful to lend some helps.
Had Imambonjol let the Kaum Adat (Minang Adat community)live their lives naturally as they have been doing for many thousands of years, the People of Minang did not have to endure the sufferings they were going through during the Padri's War. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.163.80.185 (talk • contribs)

- He is considered a national hero simply because he fought the Dutch, the despised colonialists. (Caniago 00:43, 17 January 2007 (UTC))
