Tsunan, Niigata

Tsunan (津南町 Tsunan-machi?) is a town located in Nakauonuma District, Niigata, Japan.
As of 2003, the town has an estimated population of 11,933 and a density of 70.08 persons per km². The total area is 170.28 km.
Due to its geographical location between the Sea of Japan and the surrounding alps it has one of the highest annual snowfalls in Japan and is known for its high quality of rice and sake. There are numerous popular ski resorts within the region. Tomatoes, sunflowers, and buckwheat noodles are other notable goods. One noteworthy event is the triennial art expo held in the area.
