True Movies is a satellite and cable television film channel in the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland, it is available on Freesat channel 302, Sky Digital channel 323 and Virgin Media channel 428. It is the first channel from Moving Movies Ltd., majority owned by CSC Media Group (formerly Chart Show Channels).
The channel is aimed especially at the female viewer; dedicated to true to life drama films, which are mostly made-for-TV movies in origin. It shows movies from a range of cinematic genres including romance, crime, drama and docusoaps, all of which are based on real life events.
Prior to its launch on April 29, 2005, the channel was previously an unnamed part time service found on TWC Re:Loaded from March 1, 2005, before being renamed as Movies 333 on March 21, 2005.
Soon after its launch, True Movies topped all the movie channels in August, 2005, with a 0.5% audience viewing share, higher than the established subscription Sky Movies 1 (0.4%) and Turner Classic Movies (UK) (0.3%). With the arrival of other movie channels and services in 2006, its audience share has since settled at the lower 0.1% to 0.2% mark. True Movies sister channel, True Movies 2, was launched on March 20, 2006 which shows more made-for-TV movies based on real life events.
Reception of this channel does not require any special Sky Digital or Freesat equipment, any FTA (free to air receiver) can pick up this channel.
