Troublemaker Studios

Troublemaker Studios is a production company owned by filmmaker Robert Rodriguez and his ex-wife, producer Elizabeth Avellan. Originally founded as Los Hooligans Productions, its releases include Once Upon A Time In Mexico, the Spy Kids trilogy and Sin City. Rodriguez plays a large role in the day-to-day operations of the Austin, Texas-based company. More information about the company can be seen in a featurette titled Inside Troublemaker Studios, included on the Once Upon A Time In Mexico DVD. The company's most recent release was the 2007 Robert Rodriguez/Quentin Tarantino double feature Grindhouse; Sin City 2 is also upcoming.
Troublemaker Studios' facilities are located at the old Robert Mueller Airport in Austin, utilizing several former aircraft hangars and offices. There is a large green screen stage as well as smaller practical sets. The facility also houses production offices, construction shops and other functions vital to the production of a feature film. Troublemaker Digital, Rodriguez's visual effects company, is housed at the facility as well.
A second facility, Troublemaker Sound, is located in the hill country outside of Austin. It provides post-production sound and editing facilities. This includes a full mix/dub stage prowered by a large Pro Tools installation, and a full Avid Unity-based editing system.
