[edit] Biography

The band was formed by Jerry Jones (vocals), John Ferrara (guitar), Mike Schipper (guitar) and Joshua Z Weinstein (bass) in 2002. Brian Ferrara (drums) was filling-in with Trophy Scars at the time; he was only thirteen years old. Soon after, Brian was added as the permanent drummer. Trophy Scars utilizes a wide variety of musical genres and non-traditional song structures in their sound. Influences have been said to range from The Beatles to Aesop Rock, from Converge to Tom Waits[1]. Heralded for their intimate shows and fan relationships, Trophy Scars evokes a strong DIY regiment and attitude.

The entire Trophy Scars song catalog is embossed by major themes such as time, memory, language, and romantic tragedy. The lyrics are cloaked in biting sarcasm and exasperating imagery; unique and profound - an important draw to the Trophy Scars fanbase[2]. Trophy Scars signed to the Death Scene Recording Company in 2005 and in the UK with Small Town Records in 2007. Since 2002 Trophy Scars have released two full length records, two EPs, and a compilation of demos and unreleased material. They have announced they will be releasing their latest full-length recording, Bad Luck, in 2008.

Prior to embarking on a scheduled tour of the United Kingdom supporting Raging Speedhorn, the dates were canceled. This struck a severe blow to the band's morale, which (coupled with the financial blow sustained at the cost of the tour cancellation) was cited as cause for a hiatus, as detailed on the band's MySpace page. They are currently taking donations through the so-called "Bad Luck Foundation," and have set up a PayPal account for the cause.
