Tribaal has been my internet nickname for several years now.

People often ask me where I got this nickname from, I'll try to answer this question as clearly as possible here, and then introduce the human beind the 'borg, if I can say so :o)

[edit] Nickname Origins

Tribaal are a contraction of Tri and Baal. I also sometimes write it Tri-baal. When I came up with this nickname, I thought Baal was the mesopotamian god of harvests, and had 3 forms, which led me to create the "triple baal" form thing. I was playing an old game called "Titans of Steels" at the time, an needed an original callsign for a cyborg pilot. So I opened my mythology dictionary (although I now recognise that it is pretty biased), and stumbeled on their article about Baal...

A note to many people: no, NO NO! This is not related to the Baal boss for the Diablo video games series.

My real name is Christopher G. and I live in Geneva, Switzerland.

I'm a software engineer, currently working in a local R&D company. I have discovered the Wikipedia several years ago, and now use it on a daily basis. If I had to put myself in one of the categories, I'd be a WikiGnome, for sure: I like making small adds, fixing typos and correcting errors, but I can't say I'm so good with large edits...

Well like most Wikipedians I have a certain ease with computers, so some of my hobbies are computer-related:

I love video gaming. While my favorite platform to play on is the computer, I also recently discovered myself a passion for retro-gaming. So I bought an old SNES and several games for it. My girlfriend and I spend lots of time playing.

Some of my favorite games:

  • Daggerfall: The best RPG ever in my opinion. I love the random dungeons and the almost infinite game play.
  • Secret of Mana: One of the best adventure game ever.
  • Lugaru: For being one of the most original games of the decade, for being ported to Linux and for being cheap.
  • Puzzle Pirates: A great MMORPG, where any newcomer can challenge an old one... and still win!
  • Quake 2: For being the game where I had the most online fun with my friends.
  • Dawn of War: For making an extremely expensive hobby affordable. And for being a good game, too :o)

Living in Switzerland, Snowboarding is a pretty accessible hobby in winter. Plenty of resorts are available, and [national railroads company] makes pretty good deals including a round trip with the train and the ski pass for the day... They really do a pretty good job.

I'm a huge science-fiction fan. I read almost only science-fiction books, and I begin to have quite a few books gathered and sorted respectfully on my bookshelf. Naming all my favorite books would be really long, so I'll only point out the most important to my eyes: let's begin by the great, excellent masterpiece by Dan Simmons: Hyperion. This one is really one of the greatest (series of) book(s) ever. Then of course a few others:
