I'm a Christian because God said he loves me. I'm also a mathematician and teacher and as of late 2007 a Wikipedian. By training I'm a topologist or geometer. In practice, I suppose I'm an algebraist. So in general, I'm rather confused.

[edit] On mathematical writing, I believe...

  • mathematics is easy: the only hard part about it is the notation and vocabulary
  • writing mathematics is hard: the only easy part about it is obfuscating your meaning
  • 99% of mathematics can be understood by everyone
  • good mathematics is not good unless it's communicated well
  • you should write mathematics for your audience, not yourself
  • writing mathematics without including figures is almost always lazy (and I am guilty of this)
