Triple Crown Curse

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

[edit] Origins of the curse

The origins of the Triple Crown Curse date back to Affirmed's Triple Crown win in 1978, when Steve Cauthen rode him to a win in the Belmont Stakes. Since then, eleven horses have attempted to win the Triple Crown but have failed at the Belmont Stakes because of its length of one and one-half miles and its nickname as the "Test of the Champion".
