  • 28,000 to 30,000 killed in action
  • ~30,000 died of other causes, mainly diseases
  • ~60,000 total dead and/or missing

  • ~12,000 died of other causes, mainly diseases
  • 30,000 to 35,000 total dead and/or missing

(These numbers included soldiers and civilians killed and missing in internal strife and civil war between those who opposed war and those who favour it.
